Auburn, AL, January 2014 – Bailey-Harris Construction Company formally announced CEO Allen Harris’ election to the position of Treasurer for the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Alabama Board of Directors. ABC is a national association that advances and defends the principles of the merit shop in the construction industry and provides its members with an opportunity to succeed.

The Alabama Chapter, headquartered in Birmingham, takes pride in being an environment in which people and companies succeed based on free-enterprise principles within the free-market system. “I choose to be engaged in bettering our industry and being proactive legislatively. ABC of Alabama is doing that for us daily,” states Harris.

An organization focused on increasing productivity, driving down cost and spurring economic development, ABC couples those three measures with political action in Montgomery, Washington D.C. and in the workforce development arena to promote the construction industry. “This organization is truly the voice for contractors in Alabama and an advocate for its members. I am honored to be a member and to serve on its Board,” states Harris.

Part of ABC of Alabama’s focus on workforce development includes professional management education and an exclusive Future Leaders in Construction (FLIC) program, designed to impact the next generation of industry leaders. Held annually, FLIC is comprised of a hand-picked group of the industry’s best and brightest. Bailey-Harris was honored to have Russell Harris, Project Manager, as a member of the 2013 FLIC.

According to Allen Harris, “As Bailey-Harris continues to build legacies and surpass expectations, it is not without the hard work of many team members. Those team members not only include Bailey-Harris employees, clients and subcontractors, but also the organizations who fight to promote the construction industry as a whole, organizations such as ABC of Alabama.”
